Yang to play Klahn for Challenger title

Unseeded Tsung-Hua Yang advanced to the championship match of the Royal Lahaina Challenger with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 victory over No. 2 Tim Smyczek on Saturday at the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch, and will play for the title today against Bradley Klahn, the No. 3 seed.

Klahn won seven of the final eight games in a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Tatsuma Ito.

Smyczek had lost more than three games in a set just twice in three previous matches at the event.

The winner of today’s match will earn $7,200, and the runner-up will get $4,240.

In doubles competition, Denis Kudla and Yasutaka Uchiyama beat the top-seeded team of Austin Krajicek and Tennys Sandgren 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 in the semifinals, and will play today against Daniel Kosakowski and Nicolas Meister, who advanced with a walkover Friday.
