Baldwin, Kamehameha Maui to meet for third

The two Maui Interscholastic League teams in the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Division I Boys Soccer State Championship each suffered their first losses of the season Friday in semifinal games at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oahu, and will meet each other for third place today.

Punahou defeated second-seeded Baldwin 3-0, and top-seeded Iolani beat Kamehameha Maui 2-0.

Steven Yoshimoto scored for the Buffanblu (9-3-3) in the 11th minute, Alec Dinsmore added a goal in the 16th and Antonio Espinoza scored in the 50th.

Baldwin dropped to 11-1-2.

Keoni Makekau scored in the 26th minute and Spencer Ho in the 60th for the Raiders (14-0-0).

The Warriors fell to 11-1-3.

In the Division II tournament, Seabury Hall advanced to the fifth-place game with a 1-0 victory over Leilehua. The Spartans (6-7-1) won the penalty kick shootout 4-2 after neither team scored in regulation, and will meet Kapaa today.

The Mules finished 5-9-0.
