Kamehameha earns spot in quarterfinals

The Kamehameha Schools Maui boys soccer team scored a pair of early goals and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Division I State Championship with a 2-0 victory over Mililani on Wednesday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oahu.

Kailoa Akoi scored for the Warriors (10-0-3) in the third minute, and Micah Alo added a goal in the seventh.

Kamehameha, which placed third in the state last year, will face fourth-seeded Kealakehe today for a berth in the semifinals.

Second-seeded Baldwin, which received a bye to the quarterfinal round, will play today against Kapolei, a 3-0 winner over Hilo on Wednesday.

Seabury Hall, the third seed in the eight-team Division II tournament, will play Mid-Pacific in the quarterfinals today.
