Kamehameha Maui receives No. 3 seed for state soccer

The Kamehameha Schools Maui girls soccer team received the No. 3 seed in the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Division I State Championship bracket released Sunday after winning all 12 of its Maui Interscholastic League games this season.

The Warriors will play a quarterfinal match Thursday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oahu, against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Kamehameha Kapalama and Castle.

Kamehameha Maui tied for fifth at last year’s state tournament.

Maui High will play Kapolei in a first-round game Wednesday – the winner will face top-seeded Iolani, the defending champion, in the quarterfinal round.

Pearl City received the No. 2 seed, and Konawaena is seeded fourth.

Seabury Hall, the lone MIL representative in the Division II tournament, will face Kamehameha Hawaii in a first-round match Wednesday. The winner will play in the quarterfinals against No. 4 Kalaheo.

Three-time defending D-II champion Mid-Pacific Institute received the top seed. Hawaii Prep was seeded second and Kauai is No. 3.

The title games are scheduled for Saturday.
