Bears take over first place

The Baldwin High School boys golf team took over first place in the Maui Interscholastic League standings on Thursday, winning a pair of matches against Molokai at Kahili Golf Course in Wailuku.

The Bears won the first match 155-198, and the second 157-198.

In the second match, Justin Ngan had a 36 for the Bears (9-0), Justin Arcano shot 39 and Nathaniel Idica, John Kaylan Dumo and Sean Endo all had rounds of 41.

Damien Garces and Willy Dela Cruz each had rounds of 47 for the Farmers (4-5-1), Kane Vendiola had a 51 and Cody Kawano a 53.

Baldwin’s Tyler Munetake put up a 35 in the first match, Ngan had a 39, Keanu Chang shot 40 and Endo had a 41. Idica shot 43.

Dela Cruz had a 45, Garces a 46, Vendiola a 52 and Kawano a 55.

At the Kapalua Bay Course, Aron Graziano and Dawud Moragne each shot 43 as Sea-bury Hall improved to 2-6-1.

Nate Thomas had a 51 for the Spartans, and Max Hurd shot 55. Justin Medeiros carded a 60.

Maui Prep (3-6) had four golfers – Adam Quandt (42), Corey McMurray (46), Nick Head (61) and Zac Giles (66).
