Farmers earn first two wins

Daimien Garces recorded rounds of 40 and 47 for the Molokai High School boys golf team on Saturday, helping the Farmers earn their first two Maui Interscholastic League victories of the season, against Maui Prep at Ironwood Hills in Kualapuu, Molokai.

The Farmers won the first match 204-229, and the second 185-198, improving to 2-3-1.

Na Pueo fell to 3-5.

Garces had a 47 in the first match, Kane Vendiola posted a 50, Jershon Kaalekahi had a 53 and William Dela Cruz a 54. Robert Onofrio (69) and Cody Kawano (73) were Molokai’s other golfers.

Corey McMurray (41), Adam Quandt (44), Jonah Bluh (71) and Zac Giles (73) were Maui Prep’s scorers. Nick Head carded a 74.

In the second match, Kaalekahi (44), Vendiola (49) and Dela Cruz (52) were the other scorers for Molokai. Onofrio had a 57 and Kawano shot 74.

Quandt had a 40, McMurray shot 45, Bluh had a 50 and Head a 63. Giles had a 74.
