Hawaii’s season ends with loss to Washington

The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team had its season end Friday with a 67-50 loss to Washington in a National Invitation Tournament first-round game in Seattle.

Destiny King scored 13 points for the Rainbow Wahine (17-14). Kamilah Jackson had 10 points and eight rebounds, and Ashleigh Karaitiana had seven points and nine rebounds. Molokai High School graduate Kalei Adolpho had five points and three rebounds.

Kelsey Plum scored 24 points for the Huskies (18-13), who advanced to a road game against Villanova on Sunday.

The Huskies improved to 6-0 in program history in the opening round of the WNIT.

Hawaii committed 24 turnovers and shot 26.6 percent (17-for-64) from the field en route to losing in the first round of the WNIT for the second consecutive year.
