Kanamu leads Warriors past Lunas

Travis Kanamu struck out five batters in a four-hitter for the Kamehameha Schools Maui baseball team Wednesday as the Warriors defeated Lahainaluna 5-1 in a Maui Interscholastic League game at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.

Kanamu (1-1) gave up a run in the fifth inning, and escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the seventh – Bronson Kaina lined into a double play to third baseman Chase Alexander for the first two outs, and Alexander then ended the game with an unassisted putout.

Kamehameha improved its record to 2-1.

Lahainaluna dropped to 0-3. The Lunas’ Kaimana Ancog (0-1) and Kepa Hamlin combined to allow four hits.
