Na Alii earn 10 judo titles

King Kekaulike High School had 10 champions – six girls and four boys – during the opening meet of the Maui Interscholastic League judo season on Saturday at Na Alii’s gym.

In girls competition, King Kekaulike’s Aelyssa Sabado won at 98 pounds, Kala’i Joy tied for first place at 103, Angelica Crisologo shared the 122 title, Leah Cayaban and Myah Mooney were co-champions at 129 and Jaime Hoe won at 139.

Na Alii’s boys winners were Colby Hanley (108), Dax Camoin (145), Phillip Nakagawa (198) and Joseph Metz (285).

Maui High had two girls tie for first – Chelsey Chaves at 103 and Kelsi Peterson at 122. Alyssa Queral won at 109, and Ashley Morris at 154.

Three boys from Baldwin won – John Ho’opi’i (121), Keali’i Hudcovic-Dumaran (132) and Troy Waki (161).

Kamehameha Maui’s Keely Lindsey won the girls 172 division, and Joshua Higa was the boys 178 champion.
