Title showdown set for Baldwin, Lahainaluna

Tristan Villa shot a 39 for the Lahainaluna High School boys golf team on Friday in a 167-176 win over Kamehameha Schools Maui at The Dunes at Maui Lani, keeping the Lunas undefeated in the Maui Interscholastic League, and alone in first place.

Kaimi Kahana shot 42 and Lucas Bell and Lance Ito each had rounds of 43 for Lahainaluna (12-0-0), which has two matches left in the season, both against unbeaten Baldwin next week. Rhett Wiseman had a 45, and Antonio Bak carded a 72.

Lucas Park’s 38 was the low score for the Warriors (8-3-0), who were eliminated from MIL championship contention. Kainalu Steward (44), Jacob Puu (47) and Mitchel Dutro (47) were Kamehameha’s other scorers. Kalei Stanich had a 75, and Zack Fasi shot 80.


At the Kapalua Bay Course, Ariel Elftman-Hanson carded a 37, Justin Ngan had a 38 and Baldwin improved to 11-0-0.

Tyler Munetake (40) and J.J. Arcano (42) were the other scorers for the Bears. Keanu Chang shot 38 as an alternate, and John Dumo recorded a 43.

Adam Quandt shot 41 for Maui Prep (3-9-0). Nick Head had a 53, Jonah Bluh a 64 and Zac Giles a 74. Coleman Kingwell carded a 75.


At The Dunes at Maui Lani, Kirstin Ishikawa shot 40, Kimberlie Miyamoto had a 42 and Kaylee Shimizu a 46 as Baldwin (9-2-1) entered a tie with Lahainaluna for the MIL lead.

Shaina Hipolito and Kodi Joyo each had rounds of 45 for Kamehameha Maui (2-9-0), Nicole Nagamine carded a 46 and Kalena Tamashiro had a 57.
