Trojans defeat Sabers, enter tie for first place

Daniel Raikes rallied from a set down to defeat Eric Lazo as the St. Anthony High School boys tennis team beat Maui High 3-2 on Wednesday at War Memorial Courts in Wailuku, leaving the teams tied atop the Maui Interscholastic League’s West Division standings.

Raikes won 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

The Sabers and Trojans are both 4-1.

St. Anthony’s Luke Gage defeated Kelly Griffith 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Jason Runyan teamed with Yusuke Yamagami for a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Kelvin John Bio and Jan Erwin Bio at No. 2 doubles.

Ezekiel Cawigan won for Maui High at No. 3 singles. Devan Kepler and Anthony Buduan won at No. 1 doubles.
