Bears maintain unbeaten mark, enter tie for first

The Baldwin High School boys golf team defeated Kamehameha Maui 151-185 on Monday at Kahili Golf Course in Waikapu, setting up a showdown of unbeaten teams to finish the Maui Interscholastic League regular season.

Baldwin improved to 12-0, entering a tie for first place with Lahainaluna. Those two teams are to meet Wednesday at Kahili, and then play at the Kaanapali Kai Course on Friday. A date and site for a potential playoff has not been announced.

In Monday’s match, Justin Ngan shot 37 for the Bears, while Tyler Munetake, Justin Arcano and Keanu Chang all had rounds of 38. John Kaylan Dumo carded a 40 and Nathaniel Idica a 41.

Jacob Puu’s 44 was the low score for the Warriors (8-4), who are assured of a third-place finish. Lucas Park recorded a 45, Kainalu Stewart had a 46 and Kalei Stanich shot 50.

Baldwin is seeking a second consecutive unbeaten MIL season.
