Lenny takes sprint race to earn World Series, Grand Slam titles
Kai Lenny of Spreckelsville won the Stand Up World Series’ Abu Dhabi All Stars Grand Slam sprint Friday in the United Arab Emirates and took the overall event title in the second event of this year’s tour, as well as the combined All Star crown determined by the World Series races and the Stand Up World Tour’s competition that took place earlier in the week.
Lenny led Maui’s second sweep in two days in races at Yas Marina. Zane Schweitzer of Lahaina was second on Friday, and Pukalani’s Connor Baxter was third. In Thursday’s distance event, Baxter finished first, followed by Lenny and Schweitzer.
Lenny won the World Tour event earlier in the week at Wadi Adventure Park.
Baxter remained atop the World Series standings. Lenny moved up three spots to second and Schweitzer climbed from fourth to third.
Lenny won the surfing and racing series titles last year, giving him three season championships on the World Tour, and two in the World Series.
