Lenny wins first SUP World Tour event of year

Kai Lenny of Spreckelsville earned his first Stand Up World Tour victory of the year on Tuesday, taking first place in the Abu Dhabi All Stars Grand Slam at Wadi Adventure Park in the United Arab Emirates.

Lenny had a score of 17.07 in the final, defeating Florida’s Sean Poynter (14.97).

Lenny took first place in all four of his heats at the three-day event.

Kody Kerbox of Haiku and Zane Schweitzer of Lahaina were eliminated in the quarterfinals. Connor Baxter of Pukalani bowed out in the third round.

Lenny, seeking his fourth tour title, will move to second in the series rankings, behind Brazil’s Caio Vaz, who placed fourth on Tuesday after winning each of the year’s first two events. The next stop on the tour is the Tahiti Pro, scheduled for May 26-June 2.

The Stand Up World Series’ Abu Dhabi racing event is scheduled to begin today.
