Molokai tops Maui High, takes sole possession of division lead

The Molokai High School boys doubles team each won their matches against Maui High on Friday at Kaunakakai, helping the Farmers to a 3-2 victory in a meeting of the teams that began the day tied for first place in the Mai Interscholastic League West Division standings.

Pono Chow and Kai DeCosta defeated Anthony Buduwan and Eric Lazo 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Conan Kawano and Kaiea Dowling recorded a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kelvin John Bio and Jan Erwin Bio at No. 2 as the Farmers improved to 6-1.

Molokai’s Micah Matson won 6-3, 6-2 over Ezekiel Cawigan at No. 3 singles.

The Sabers (5-2) remained second in the division standings, a half-game in front of St. Anthony.
