Na Alii sweep Bears

The King Kekaulike High School boys volleyball team finished the Maui Interscholastic League Division I regular season on a nine-match winning streak by beating Baldwin 25-22, 25-18, 25-20 on Monday in Pukalani.

Colton Cowell had 22 kills for Na Alii (11-1), who were already assured of the D-I regular-season title. King Kekaulike is 8-0 against the league’s D-I teams this year.

Lionel Mills had 14 kills and Laakea Gonsalves added six blocks for King Kekaulike, which will play an MIL tournament semifinal match Thursday at Erdman Athletic Center in Olinda against the winner of Wednesday’s meeting between Lahainaluna and Maui High.

Afoa Laga had nine blocks for the Bears (7-4), who will face Kamehameha Maui in the semifinals. Ryan Garces had eight kills, and Kelii Kaiama had 21 assists.

At Kahului, Jaryn Kuhaulua-Feiteira had 30 kills and Aidenlee Velasco contributed 16 as Maui High won 19-25, 27-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-11.

Kimo Cabajar had 45 assists for the Sabers (5-7).

Lahainaluna fell to 2-10.
