Rainbow Warriors lose seventh consecutive game

The University of Hawaii baseball team suffered a seventh straight defeat Thursday, held to four hits in a 6-2 loss to Cal State Northridge in Northridge, Calif.

Brett Balkan broke a scoreless tie with a two-run single for the Matadors (14-23, 3-7 Big West) in the sixth inning. Nick Blaser singled home a pair of runs during Northridge’s four-run rally in the seventh.

Jordan Richartz’s RBI single in the eighth drove in the first run for the Rainbow Warriors

(14-20, 2-8). Adam Hurley drew a bases-loaded walk later in the inning.

Brycen Rutherford (3-3) allowed one unearned run on two hits in 7 1/3 innings to earn the win.

Matt Cooper (3-4) permitted five runs – two of them unearned – in six innings.

The teams are scheduled to meet again today.
