Bears boys fourth at state golf

Baldwin High School’s Ariel Elftman-Hanson shot a 3-over-par 75 and was tied for eighth after the first round of the David S. Ishii Foundation Boys Golf State Championship at the Turtle Bay Palmer Course on Oahu.

Elftman-Hanson is six shots behind leader John Oda of Moanalua.

The Bears’ other golfers are Justin Arcano (79), Justin Ngan (81), Tyler Munetake (81), John Kaylan Dumo (83), Keanu Chang (90) and Nathaniel Idica (94).

Baldwin, the Maui Interscholastic League champions, is in fourth place at 316.

Moanalua, which had five of the top six golfers, leads at 285. Punahou is in second place at 297 and Mid-Pacific is third at 305.

Lahainaluna is tied for eighth at 356.

The Lunas’ golfers are Kerek Franz (81), Kaimi Kanaha (83), Lucas Bell (91) and Lance Ito (101).
