Lahainaluna advances to fifth-place match
The Lahainaluna High School girls water polo team earned a spot in the Stanford Carr Development State Championship fifth-place match by defeating Roosevelt 10-5 on Friday at Kamehameha Hawaii’s Nae’ole Aquatics Complex.
The third-seeded Lunas will play today against Kamehameha Hawaii, which defeated Kapolei 8-7 earlier Friday.
Lalelei Mataafa scored four goals for Lahainaluna. Cherelle Freitas and Courtney Galarita each had two, and Haleigh Berko and Alicia Wintermeyer added one apiece.
Roosevelt got three goals from Autumn Akio. Brianna Bee and Kacie Ann Mau each had one.
Baldwin will play for seventh place today against Kaiser, which beat Kealakehe 7-3 on Friday.
The Bears advanced to the consolation final by defeating Leilehua 8-4 on Thursday.
