Havens, Branch ahead by one at Kaanapali Pro-Pro

Kaanapali professionals Roscoe Branch and David Havens held the lead after Sunday’s first round of the Kaanapali Pro-Pro Championship, shooting a 7-under-par 64 at the Kaanapali Royal Course.

Havens, Kaanapali’s PGA director of instruction, and Branch, an apprentice PGA member at Kaanapali, were one stroke in front of Big Island professionals Chris Keiter and Darren Sayre entering today’s final round.

“Roscoe and I played very well as a team today, he pulled me up when we were down and we worked well together,” Havens said.

A pair of Maui duos shared third place at 66 – David Braxton of Kihei’s Elleair Maui Golf Club and unaffiliated Kyle Hayashi, and Kapalua’s Ben Hongo and Doug Bohn.
