Longboard is first finisher of Vic-Maui Yacht Race

FIRST PHOTO: Longboard, a Riptide 35 Mark II yacht out of Vancouver, British Columbia, was the first boat to complete the Vic-Maui International Yacht Race, arriving at Aston Kaanapali Shores Resort at 10:56 p.m. on Thursday. The 2,308-nautical mile race started July 3 in Victoria, British Columbia.

SECOND PHOTO: Longboard was skippered by Peter Salusbury and his crew consisted of Gina Borza, Jeremy Hill, Simon Jones, Stewart Jones and James Salusbury. New Haven, a Ker 46 yacht skippered by John Kerrigan out of Bainbridge Island, Wash., was second to finish, arriving at about noon on Friday. The official winner of the race will be determined by corrected time, where New Haven has an advantage between the first two boats.
