Reports: Suzuki signs contract extension with Minnesota Twins

Kurt Suzuki, a 2001 Baldwin High School graduate, has signed a contract extension with the Minnesota Twins, according to numerous reports.

Suzuki was an All-Star for the first time in his eight-year career this season and is currently hitting a career-best .304, ninth-best in the American League.

NBC Sports said the contract is for $6 million in each of 2015 and 2016.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports was the first to report the contract extension, which came minutes after the non-waiver trade deadline passed at 10 a.m. HST.

Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reported the deal includes a vesting option for 2017.

Suzuki was working on a one-year, $2.75 million deal with the Twins this season.
