Bloch places 42nd in 100 backstroke
Chase Bloch, a former Maui resident, completed his performances in the U.S. swimming national championships with a 42nd-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke on Saturday in Irvine, Calif.
Bloch had a time of 57.12 seconds. A time of 55.41 or better was needed to finish in the top 16 and qualify for one of the finals.
Bloch was the runner-up in the 50 backstroke B final on Friday.
Seabury Hall graduate Renny Richmond has qualified for today’s 50 freestyle competition. Richmond was 10th in the 50 butterfly B final on Thursday.
