Maui to play for regional title
Akoni Hamilton-Golis pitched a four-hit shutout as the Central East Maui All-Stars reached the championship game of the Little League Senior (15-16) West Regional with a 5-0 win over Corning (Calif.) on Monday in Ontario, Calif.
Maui improved to 4-0 in the tournament, and will play today against Manhattan Beach (Calif.), which beat Upland (Calif.) 7-6 in the second semifinal – the winner of today’s game will advance to the Senior League World Series, which begins Saturday in Bangor, Maine.
“Akoni Hamilton-Golis, he was hitting his spots,” said Maui manager manager Lee Kashiwamura. “He pitched lights-out.”
Hamilton-Golis struck out 11 batters, and walked none.
Lane Kashiwamura and Shadd Santos each had two hits for Maui, and Colby Tam stole home.
