Lenny is one of two competitors from Maui who advanced to today’s male quarterfinals of the surf portion, along with Zane Schweitzer of Lahaina. Lara Claydon of Lahaina and Talia DeCoite of Haiku are in the female quarterfinals. Lenny won both of his surf heats, while DeCoite finished second in her one heat. Claydon and Schweitzer advanced through the repechage rounds. Lenny, Baxter and Schweitzer are among the 24 male racing semifinalists, as are Kody Kerbox of Haiku and Maui Preparatory graduate Slater Trout, who now lives on the Mainland. Also in contention for the male semifinals are Noah Yap of Kihei, Livio Menelau of Haiku and Kawika Kinimaka of Lahaina – they are part of a semifinal qualifier field of 24 from which eight will continue on. Claydon and DeCoite are among eight entrants vying for two remaining spots in the female racing final.
