UH opens with sweep of Ohio

A pair of former Maui Interscholastic League standouts made significant contributions for the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team Friday in a 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 win over Ohio at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu in the season opener for both teams.

Kamehameha Schools Maui graduate Ginger Long set a career high with eight kills and Molokai graduate Kalei Adolpho also had eight in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational match. Olivia Magill had 10 kills for UH, No. 17 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

Adolpho also had six digs and four blocks, and Long had four digs.

Hannah Burkle had nine kills for the Bobcats.

Hawaii will face Arizona State today.
