Maui players held scoreless as Asia Pacific Junior Cup begins

The two Maui players on Team Hawaii at the Asia Pacific Junior Cup – Tyler Munetake of Wailuku and Justin Ngan of Kahului – were on losing teams Sunday as competition began at the Waikoloa Beach Resort Kings’ Course on the Big Island.

Japan ended the day of fourball matches leading Hawaii 6 1/2-1 1/2.

Ngan and Remington Hirano lost 5 and 4 to Takumi Kanaya and Gaku Tsukamoto. Munetake and Kaci Masuda lost 3 and 2 to Hina Arakaki and Hayata Utsunomiya.

Foursome matches are scheduled for today, and the event is to conclude with singles matches Tuesday.
