Bears improve to 8-0

Shadd Santos drove in four runs and Kawena Alo-Kaonohi pitched a six-hit shutout as the Baldwin High School baseball team defeated Kamehameha Maui 8-0 on Friday at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku, extending its perfect start to the Maui Interscholastic League season.

Alo-Kaonohi struck out two batters and allowed one walk in helping the Bears improve to 8-0 this year.

Santos finished 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of runs. Nawai Ah Yen added three RBIs for Baldwin.

The Warriors fell to 0-5.

At Wailuku, Akoni Hamilton-Golis struck out eight while allowing just one run on four hits and four walks, leading Lahainaluna to its first MIL victory of the season.

Jacob Mahon drove in two runs for the Lunas (1-7).

Na Alii fell to 1-4.
