Baldwin boys claim MIL bowling crown

Baldwin High School won the Maui Interscholastic League boys bowling championship Saturday, defeating Kamehameha Maui 3-0 at Maui Bowling Center in Wailuku in the final matches of the regular season.

The Bears (15-3) claimed the title for the second time in three years.

The Warriors finished the year 13-5.

Top individual scores were not reported.

The Baldwin girls won 2-1 over previously undefeated Kamehameha, which had already clinched the league title.

Kaitlin Izumigawa had games of 158 and 149 for the Bears (12-6), Kyra Watanabe had a 143 and Alyssa Riglos had a 141. The Warriors (16-2) got two games of 165 and another of 164 from Anela Brittain. Michelle Nakashima added a 132.

The Maui High girls defeated King Kekaulike 3-0.

Chelsea Silva’s 172 was the high game for the Sabers (8-10). Erikah Dowells had a 141 and Camryn Ban had a 135. Kiley Kochi recorded a 149 for Na Alii (0-18) and Samantha Emmsley had a 123.

Dillon Ikeda had games of 202 and 190 as King Kekaulike beat Maui High 3-0 in the other boys match, improving to 8-10. Na Alii’s Gavin Brittain had a 166 and 147, and Keoni Valdez had a 121. Isaac Lazo (114) and Vijay-Phillip Julian (112) had the high games for the Sabers (0-18).
