Dragons take title for first time in 38 years

Hana High School claimed its first Maui Interscholastic League girls volleyball championship since 1978 on Friday by sweeping Molokai 22-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-10 in the Division II tournament championship at Pedro de la Cruz Gym in Lanai City.

Nohokulaalohalani Lind had 14 kills, five digs and two blocks for the Dragons (12-0), who have lost just three sets all season and had already clinched their fifth consecutive state berth.

Jaylin Victorine-Dyment had 13 kills for Hana, and Harmony Gonsalves-Cosma had nine aces, seven kills and three digs. Shyla Boeche finished with 28 assists.

The Farmers (9-3) are going to the state tournament for the first time since 2011. Molokai’s only losses this season were to Hana.
