Baldwin at King Kekaulike

Overview

Baldwin can maintain control of the Maui Interscholastic League Division I second-round race with a victory; King Kekaulike must win to keep its Division II playoff chances alive. Baldwin is ranked first in the league on offense and third on defense; King Kekaulike is fifth in both. The Bears defeated Na Alii 45-6 in the teams’ first meeting on Sept. 16.

Chayce Akaka is third in the MIL in passing and rushing yards — he is the only player with more than 15 throws to have a completion rate above 50 percent. Kamaki Gouveia is second in the league in rushing and needs to average 86 yards per game in the final three to reach 1,000 for the season.

Na Alii at a glance

Freshman quarterback Trey Hunter scored the only touchdown of the season for Na Alii in the first game against the Bears. He is ninth in the league in rushing and eighth in passing. Earl Naki-Vea is sixth in passing. Martin Flores is 13th in rushing and Cameron Russell averages 11.3 yards per catch.

Kamehameha Maui at Lahainaluna

Overview

If King Kekaulike loses today, Lahainaluna can clinch the MIL Division II title with a victory on Saturday. Kamehameha Maui faces a near must-win to keep its postseason hopes alive. The Lunas rank second in the MIL on offense and defense, while the Warriors are third on offense and fourth on defense. Lahainaluna won the first game 35-7 on Sept. 17.

Damon Martin leads the league in rushing, and Kainoa Sanchez is second in the league in passing, just 27 yards out of first. Tyerell Baldonado-Kaleiopu is second in receiving, Tristan Catan is third and Kealaula Keliikoa is fifth. Martin is 11th in receiving and tied for the lead in scoring.

Lunas at a glance

Lahainaluna has four runners in the top eight in the league in rushing — Justice Tihada, Elijah Ragudo, Etuati Storer and Donovan Defang, who have combined to run for nine touchdowns. Storer, one of four players used at quarterback, also is fourth in the league in passing yards on just 15 throws.
