Seabury boys improve to 5-0

MIL BASKETBALL

The Seabury Hall boys basketball team extended its perfect start to the Maui Interscholastic League season and widened its lead in the Division II standings by beating Molokai 65-45 on Friday at “The Barn” in Hoolehua.

Isaiah Payne scored 22 points as the Spartans (5-0), last year’s state runners-up and winners of the last seven MIL titles, earned their 50th victory in their last 51 league games.

Christian Jenkins added 19 points for Seabury, and J.D. Pells had 12.

The Farmers (3-2) got 18 points from Edel Mark Alvarez.

LANAI BOYS 59, HANA 36

At Lanai City, John Baltero scored 10 points and the Pine Lads (2-3) pulled away after leading 20-17 at halftime.

Kaula Moeai scored 14 points for the Dragons (0-5).

SEABURY HALL GIRLS 45, MOLOKAI 41

At Hoolehua, Ameera Waterford scored 17 points and Anaulei Tuivai added 14 as the Spartans, already assured of the regular-season championship, improved to 6-1.

Sydney Rawlins was the top scorer for the Farmers (0-5), with 11 points. Brooke Keliihoomalu had 10.
