Valley to the Sea runners take different course

FIRST PHOTO: Dustin Mitchell of Kentucky runs along South Kihei Road on the way to winning the Valley to the Sea half-marathon on Saturday. Mitchell completed the course in 1 hour, 15 minutes, 41.2 seconds. Runners began and finished at the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary — Iao Valley was bypassed this year as the area remains restricted after flooding that took place in September.
