The Kamehameha Schools Maui baseball team moved into second place in the Maui Interscholastic League Division I standings on the final day of the regular season Saturday, defeating King Kekaulike 5-1 at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.

Kamehameha improved to 8-4, tied with Maui High — the Warriors went 2-1 in their season series with the Sabers.

Konnor Palmeira pitched a complete game for Kamehameha, allowing five hits while striking out three batters. He also went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored. The Warriors’ Nate Facuri had two hits and scored a run.

King Kekaulike (3-9) will play Lahainaluna in the first round of the D-I tournament on April 12. The winner will face top-seeded Baldwin in the first semifinal on April 13; Kamehameha Maui and Maui High will meet in the second semifinal on April 14.
