University of Redlands freshman Sarah Ikioka, a Kamehameha Schools Maui graduate, earned NCAA Division III All-America honors by reaching the doubles semifinals of the national championship that took place last week in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Ikioka and Elizabeth Johnson won two NCAA matches, defeating Mikey Barthelmass and Ashnaa Rao of Johns Hopkins 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the first round and then winning 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-2 over Megan Hum-phreys and Bridgid McGuire of Wisconsin-Whitewater before a 6-2, 6-2 loss to top-seeded Eudice Chong and Victoria Yu of Wesleyan.

Ikioka lost 6-2, 6-0 to Chong, the No. 1 seed, in the first round of singles play.

Ikioka and Johnson finished with a 18-5 record this season — they had won nine matches in a row before the loss to Chong and Wu. Ikioka also went 10-9 in singles.

Earlier this month, Ikioka earned Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first-team honors.
