Aug. 31–Maui Pop Warner Football will offer an Unlimited Division for players 11-14 years old and weighing at least 105 pounds, and is accepting players for its other divisions as well. The deadline to register is Aug. 31. Contact: email@example.com, 757-3179.
Sept. 2–Registration for the Maui Flag Football League, open to boys and girls up to the 12th grade, are underway. Age groups are pre-K and under, K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade. Games are Saturdays from Sept. 2 to Oct. 28. Aug. 20–The Paniaka Restoration Golf Tournament is scheduled for Aug. 20 at Makena Golf & Beach Club, with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament, hosted by the Pacific Whale Foundation, will benefit the restoration of Paniaka Wetland in Makena State Park. The entry fee for the scramble event is $350 per player, which also pays for admission to a luncheon and eligibility for prizes. Wednesday–The deadline to enter the County of Maui Parks & Recreation Department’s pickleball tournament, set for Aug. 26 at the War Memorial Gym and tennis courts, is Wednesday. The tournament, which is free and open to the public, starts at 7:30 a.m. with a rules meeting. The format will be mixed doubles with four age divisions: 50 and younger, 51-55, 56-60 and 61 and older. Aug. 19–The Xterra Adventure Fest Maui trail runs are scheduled for 8 a.m. on Aug. 19 in the area near D.T. Fleming Beach Park in Lahaina. Adult trails will be 5 and 10 kilometers, and a keiki 2K course is also offered. The entry fees are $55 for the 10K, $40 for the 5K and $25 for the 2K. Relay teams for the 5K can enter for $60. Feb. 10–The Pacific Whale Foundation’s Run & Walk for the Whales is scheduled for 7 a.m. on Feb. 10, starting and ending at the Maalaea Harbor Shops. The entry fees until Aug. 31 are $50 for the 11.5-mile run, $40 for the 10-kilometer run, $30 for the 5K and $15 for the mile. Fees for each distance will increase by $5 on Sept. 1, and by another $5 on Dec. 1. Foundation members will receive a $5 discount.
