Aug. 31–Maui Pop Warner Football will offer an Unlimited Division for players 11-14 years old and weighing at least 105 pounds, and is accepting players for its other divisions as well. The deadline to register is Aug. 31. Contact:, 757-3179.

Sept. 2–Registration for the Maui Flag Football League, open to boys and girls up to the 12th grade, are underway. Age groups are pre-K and under, K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade. Games are Saturdays from Sept. 2 to Oct. 28. Sept. 9–The Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui’s Rotary Helping Women golf tournament will be held on Sept. 9 at Pukalani Country Club. The tournament is a fundraiser for Women Helping Women, which offers emergency shelter and programs for victims of domestic violence. The single entry fee is $100 in advance, $120 at the door. The two-player team fee is $200 in advance, $240 at the door. Players may also purchase mulligan tickets for $5 apiece (limit two per player). Feb. 10–The Pacific Whale Foundation’s Run & Walk for the Whales is scheduled for 7 a.m. on Feb. 10, starting and ending at the Maalaea Harbor Shops. The entry fees until Aug. 31 are $50 for the 11.5-mile run, $40 for the 10-kilometer run, $30 for the 5K and $15 for the mile. Fees for each distance will increase by $5 on Sept. 1, and by another $5 on Dec. 1. Foundation members will receive a $5 discount. Saturday-Aug. 27–Maui Titans DeMarini will be holding softball tryouts for the 2017 and 2018 seasons on Saturday and Aug. 27 at the Baldwin High School softball field. Tryouts are for players born from 2001 to 2004 (14U and 16U age groups) that are committed to travel softball. An informational meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Maui Electric Company Auditorium in Kahului. Workouts are set for 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday and 2 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 27. Aug. 27– The deadline to register for the 36th annual Kapalua Open Tennis Championships is Aug. 27. The tournament is scheduled for Sept. 2-4 at the Kapalua Tennis Garden and has 3.5, 4.0 and open divisions for singles, doubles and mixed doubles. The entry fee is $55 for one event and $60 for two.
