Oahu’s Mo Freitas runs ahead of Haiku’s Connor Baxter on the way to their 1-2 finish — decided by less than a quarter of a second — in the International Surfing Association World SUP and Paddleboard men’s stand-up technical race Saturday in Vorupor, Denmark. Freitas had a time of 19 minutes, 19.44 seconds, and Baxter claimed his second silver medal of the contest in 19:19.64. “Connor Baxter is such a great paddler and today I am just overwhelmed with joy,” Freitas said on the ISA website. Baxter was also second in the SUP distance race on Sept. 2. Pukalani’s Annie Reickert placed sixth in the women’s technical race, and Lahaina’s Lara Claydon was 19th. New Zealand’s Annabel Anderson won — she was also the distance-race champion. Entering the final event, today’s relay race, Hawaii is fourth in the team standings.
