Julian, Cambra lead Warriors to team victory

Kamehameha Schools Maui teammates Jacob Julian and Kody Cambra tied for the best score of the day in Maui Interscholastic League air riflery shoot No. 4 on Saturday at Kaulaheanuiokamoku Gym in Pu­kalani, leading the Warriors to the boys team title.

Kamehameha’s Kuualoha Bailey had the best individual girls score, and Maui High was the team winner.

Julian and Cambra each finished with 261 points. Cambra had the best scores of the day kneeling (86) and standing (83) to go with a 92 prone. Julian’s 96 prone was the day’s best — he had five bull’s-eyes prone, and eight overall. He shot 82 standing and 83 kneeling.

Kamehameha finished with 980 points as a team, 48 better than runner-up King Kekaulike, which was led by Quinton Uradomo’s third-place score of 252.

Bailey had the best kneeling score in the girls competition, a 93, and shot 93 prone and 71 standing. She also hit the bull’s-eye eight times.

King Kekaulike had the next two best scores, a 253 by Kate-bel Jose and a 248 by Keauli’i-okalani Nagata, en route to finishing second as a team. The Sabers finished with 950 points, and Na Alii had 944.

Maui High’s Taylor McCary was fourth with a 245. Her 77 standing led the field, and she and Jose each shot 94 prone.
