Pine Lasses take down Rays in four sets

MIL VOLLEYBALL

Raquel Leobeuf Malacas posted 13 kills and Geraldine Olomua had 12 to lead the Lanai High School girls volleyball team to a four-set victory over Haleakala Waldorf on Friday night in Lanai City.

Leah Vidad had eight kills and a dig, Olomua added 15 digs and Leobeuf Malacas also had four aces as the Pine Lasses won 25-19, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21 to improve to 2-2 in the Maui Interscholastic League.

The Rays fell to 1-5.

HANA 3, MAUI PREP 0

At Hana, the Dragons got five aces and six kills from Fushia Pua in a 25-9, 25-6, 25-17 victory.

Jade Hoopai had three aces and 15 assists, Tu’u Helekahi had six aces and two kills, and Shya Roback had two aces and six kills for Hana (4-1).

Na Pueo dropped to 2-3.
