Silva, Bediamol bow out at ISA junior world championships

Dante Silva of Lahaina competes Wednesday at the International Surfing Association’s World Junior Championships in Hyuga, Japan. Silva posted a score of 9.00 to place second in his heat in the U18 boys third repechage round today, but was eliminated in the fourth round after a 7.37 left him fourth in his heat. Haiku’s Logan Bediamol also bowed out in the round, placing third in his heat with an 11.74; he had advanced with a 13.23 for a second-place finish in the third round. In the U18 boys main draw, Cody Young of Wailuku continued his winning ways with a first-place finish in his fourth-round heat with a 13.37 — Young has won all of his heats thus far in the competition. On Wednesday in Portugal, Haiku’s Tanner Hendrickson advanced at the EDP Billabong Pro Cascais, winning his second-round heat with a 15.23. Lahaina’s Dusty Payne bowed out with a 9.54, finishing fourth in his heat.
