Lahainaluna at Kamehameha Maui

The Maui Interscholastic League Division II first-round championship is at stake on Kamehameha Maui’s homecoming night. Lahainaluna ranks third in the league on offense, and second on defense. The Warriors are fourth on offense and defense. The Lunas average a league-best 303.3 rushing yards per game, while Kamehameha is giving up 162.7 yards per game on the ground.

Elijah Ragudo is fifth in the MIL in rushing yards, and Joshua Tihada is seventh. Tihada leads the league in rushing touchdowns, with five. Etuati Storer, Aliksa Pihda and Derek Perez have all run for at least 99 yards, and Storer is sixth in passing yards. William Kai Bookland is 12th in receiving.

Warriors at a glance

Nathan Facuri and Tristan Catan are first and second, respectively, in receiving, and Facuri leads the league in scoring with six touchdowns. Damon Martin is sixth in the league in rushing, Kainoa Sanchez is eighth and Dane Abarra is 11th. Sanchez is second in passing yards and touchdowns while completing 60.7 percent of his throws.

Maui High vs. Baldwin

Saturday, War Memorial Stadium, 7 p.m.


The Division I first-round crown is on the line with the top-ranked Baldwin offense running into the No. 1 defense of Maui High. The Bears are third on defense, while the Sabers are second on offense. Baldwin has won the last four meetings in this series after Maui High won three straight in 2014 and 2015. This game features the league’s top four rushers.

Chayce Akaka leads the league in rushing and passing yards, while Bishop Wickes is fourth on the rushing list despite sitting last week with a slight injury. Kainalu Lacno is third in receiving, Maluhia Plunkett is sixth, Brayden Reys-Sojot is seventh and Akaka is 10th. As a team, Baldwin has 736 rushing yards, and a league-best 727 passing.

Sabers at a glance

Maui High earned its first victory of the season last week, beating King Kekaulike in a must-win situation to remain in first-round contention. Justin Pulido is second on the MIL rushing list, one spot in front of Naia Nakamoto. Kainalu Tancayo is fourth in passing yards and ninth in rushing.
