MIL team to host state volleyball first-round match
The Maui News
The Maui Interscholastic League Division I girls volleyball runner-up — either King Kekaulike High School or Kamehameha Maui — will play a home match Monday in the first round of the New City Nissan State Championship, the Hawaii High School Athletic Association announced Thursday.
Na Alii or the Warriors will face Mililani, and the winner will take on top-seeded Kamehameha Kapalama on Oct. 26 at McKinley.
The MIL champion will be seeded third, and will play on Oct. 26 at Moanalua against the winner of Monday’s match between Waianae and defending champion Iolani.
Kamehameha Maui and King Kekaulike are to meet in the MIL tournament final today at Baldwin’s Jon Garcia Gym. If Na Alii win, they would face the Warriors again Saturday for the overall league title.
Kamehameha Kapalama, which has won 15 of the last 26 state titles, is the No. 1 seed. Moanalua is No. 2 and either Waiakea or Hilo will be seeded third.
