Spartans to play for fifth place at state

The Seabury Hall girls volleyball team earned a spot in today’s Division II fifth-place match of the New City Nissan State Championships with a 25-20, 20-25, 15-13 victory over Konawaena on Friday at Kaimuki in Honolulu.

The Maui Interscholastic League champion Spartans improved to 15-1 and will face Sacred Hearts today at the Neal Blaisdell Arena.

In the D-II consolation final at Kaimuki, Hana defeated Pearl City 25-23, 27-25.

In a Division I fifth-place semifinal at Moanalua, Kamehameha Maui lost to Na Menehune (15-1) 25-22, 25-17.

Talia Leauanae had seven kills and Alea Cervantes added six for the Warriors (14-3).
