Three from Maui earn HSJGA titles

The Maui News – Reese Guzman of Kahului won the girls 15-18 title in a Hawaii State Junior Golf Association Junior Tour Series event Sunday at the Kapalua Bay Course, and two other Maui golfers also finished first in their divisions.

Guzman closed with a 2-under-par 70 for a 1-under total of 143, eight shots better than the runner-up, Oahu’s Kami Hamada.

Wai­luku’s Lana Calibuso-Kwee finished first in girls 13-14, and Dillon Jonke of Kihei was the boys 11-12 winner.

Calibuso-Kwee’s second-round 78 gave her a 153. Lacey Uchida (77) of the Big Island finished two shots back.

Jonke had an 82 for a 151 total. Oahu’s Rayden Hara-Shimabuku closed with an 85 to finish second at 163.

The other winners were from Oahu. A.J. Teraoka was the boys 15-18 champion, Jake Sequin won the boys 13-14 title, Teal Matsueda was the girls 11-12 winner and Bryce Toledo-Lue won in boys 7-10.

Teraoka (73) finished at 141, Sequin (77) had a 151 and won a tiebreaker with Oahu’s Noah Ko­shi (80), Matsueda closed with a 76 for a 156 and Toledo-Lue (86) had a 180 total.
