Davidson celebration of life set for Oct. 30

A celebration of life for Fred Davidson, who was a longtime three-sport referee in the Maui Interscholastic League, is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Wailea Kitchen and Tap.

Davidson died last month at age 68.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Maui Humane Society or Maui Food Bank is requested.

Nevison aces No. 16 at Wailea Emerald

Gary Nevison of Kihei made a hole-in-one Tuesday at the Wailea Emerald Course.

Nevison used a 7-iron to ace the 141-yard 16th hole. The shot was witnessed by Patty Nevison.


Maui Open martial arts event set for Nov. 5

The 12th annual Maui Open martial arts tournament is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 5 at the Maui High School gym in Kahului.

The tournament is open to all styles of traditional martial arts. Registration can be completed by calling 877-5435.

Admission for spectators will cost $5, with no charge for youths 5 and under.
