Kiffmann athletes compete in Las Vegas

Miles Kiffmann went 1-1 in the black-belt men’s featherweight Olympic qualifier division of the World Taekwondo President’s Cup that took place Oct. 5-8 in Las Vegas.

Kiffmann defeated USA Taekwondo national champion David Reitz before losing to national team member Jacob Grace.

Anisha Patterson, competing in the women’s lightweight division, lost to former national teamer Tasha Pruter.

Four other Kiffmann Taekwondo athletes also competed.

Jerico San Agustin went 1-1 in the black belt cadet (12-14) division.

In the color-belt events, Zayden Collins won two golds in 6-7 board breaking and one in sparring, and was a forms silver medalist; Jan San Agustin won a 15-17 sparring gold; and Lesili Bertelsen took bronze medals in 8-9 sparring and forms.


East Maui boxers earn wins on Oahu

Joven Daguimol Corpuz and Kila Hokoana of East Maui Boxing Club each won their fights at the Pearlside Boxing Show that took place Saturday at Wahiawa Middle School on Oahu.

Corpuz defeated Thor Hubbell by unanimous decision, and Hokoana recorded a third-round technical knockout of Oahu’s Lawrence Acoba.

East Maui’s Zane Rodrigues lost by unanimous decision to Oahu’s Iakona Kahaawi.
