Warriors top Lunas, finish off unbeaten MIL regular season

Kimani Fernandez-Roy had 16 kills as the Kamehameha Schools Maui girls volleyball team defeated Lahainaluna in four sets Tuesday night at Kaulaheanuio­ka­moku Gym in Pukalani, capping a 12-0 run through the Maui Interscholastic League regular season.

Alea Cervantes added 12 kills and Talia Leauanae had 10 kills and 12 digs in the Warriors’ 23-25, 25-11, 25-10, 25-9 victory. Aliah Ayau had 45 assists, two aces and 11 digs, Inez Garcia had 12 digs and two aces, and Jasmine Corn posted 10 aces and eight digs.

The Lunas fell to 4-8.

Kamehameha is to play today in an exhibition match against undefeated Seabury Hall, which leads the MIL Division II standings, at Erdman Athletic Center in Olinda. Proceeds from the match will benefit the Dig Pink Side Out Foundation, which promotes cancer research.

Lahainaluna next faces Maui High in the MIL Division I tournament play-in match next Tuesday.

At Pukalani, Chandler Cowell compiled 12 kills, 16 digs, two aces and a block, and Na Alii defeated the Sabers 25-15, 25-16, 25-23.

Lyric Love added 11 kills and three blocks, Nanna Inouye contributed 15 digs, three aces and an assist, and Cymbree Trent had three kills for King Kekaulike (7-5).

The Sabers dropped to 2-10.

Hana 3, St. Anthony 0

At Wailuku, Shya Roback had 15 kills and Nohokula Lind added 10 kills and seven aces to lead the Dragons to a 25-10, 25-17, 25-7 victory.

Hana (10-1) also got six kills, two blocks and an ace from Anela English, and 21 assists, five aces and a kill from Shaylee Roback.

The Trojans fell to 2-9.
