Wilson earns four golds at jiu jitsu event

The Maui News – Athletes from Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Maui in Lahaina won 15 gold medals — including four for William Wilson — at the North American Grappling Association Hawaii Grappling Championship on Sept. 23 at Mililani High School on Oahu.

Wilson took gold in no gi expert 115-129.9 pounds in the age 11 and 11-13 divisions, and in gi expert divisions at 120-129.9 in 11-13 and 120-139.9 in 11-12.

The academy had five double winners — Randall Hayes (masters no gi expert super heavyweight and men’s gi purple belt super heavyweight), Sean Farrington (men’s no gi intermediate light heavyweight and men’s gi blue belt middleweight), Anakin Hayes (60-69.9 advanced 8-year-old gi and no gi), Ledan Delatori (80-88.9 advanced 10-11 gi and no gi) and Brayden Valencia (80-88.9 intermediate 8-year-old no gi and 8-9 gi).

Amadeo Gurgone won gold in gi 90-99.9 advanced 10-11 and silver in no gi 90-99.9 advanced 11-12.

Elijah Hayes won silver in gi and no gi in the 40-49.9 intermediate 6-year-old division.
