Baldwin cheer team places third in state

Baldwin High School finished third and Maui High was fourth out of four teams in the large division of the Zippy’s State Cheerleading Championships on Saturday at the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu.

Baldwin, which won the Maui Interscholastic League title for a second straight year last week, scored 461.50 points Saturday, and Maui High finished at 344.00.

Mililani repeated as state champion with a 499.50, and Iolani (484.25) was second.

Sacred Hearts (503.50) won the medium division title, followed by Kaiser (487.25), Waimea (472.00) and Aiea (467.00).
